Here is the adaptive part – the student will get questions based on their performance in the first part. This means the second part could get tougher or easier based on the first part’s performance. The content of the section also is adaptive and changes according to the student’s level of challenge.
Digital SAT is 2 hours and 14 minutes long compared to the earlier paper-based exams which were 3 hours long. While the time has been reduced, the SAT digital exam pattern gives students more time to answer. The SAT digital exams are neither easier nor tougher than the paper-based SAT exams. The exams are simply different. The scoring in both paper-based and the SAT digital is the same – 400-1600 total scale. However, the digital SAT score eliminates cross-test scores and sub-scores.

There is no negative marking in the digital SAT exam compared to the paper-based exam. Like the paper-based SAT exam, the digital SAT exam allows the use of calculator in the Math section. Students can use the Desmos Graphing Calculator that is built into Bluebook or bring a calculator that is of acceptable standards. There is a ten-minute break in the digital SAT exam two modules. Both the modules are of equal duration. The digital SAT exam scores are usually available within two weeks after the test date. Sometimes they are available sooner also.
